The biological investigation of allergic subjects was considerably improved by the introduction of molecular components, as they provide a better understanding of polysensitizations and/or co-sensitizations and they enable the assessment of symptom severity, while avoiding the risks associated with the use of food
allergens.
The laboratory’s main activity consists in the search for specific serum IgE antibodies to more than 700 different allergenic products, either in unit tests, multi-tests “CLA” or microchip techniques (Alex® test – panel of more than 280 native and molecular allergen extracts supplemented by total IgE antibodies).
In addtition, this laboratory has the ability to perform cellular techniques including the immunological release test and BAT (basophil activation test) by flow cytometry, which are particularly interesting for drug hypersensitivity.
Eurofins Biomnis has gained an expertise in the fields of allergy-anaesthesia (anaphylactic shock profile) and food allergies and is a member of the GERAP (Groupe d’Etude des Réactions Anaphylactoïdes Peranesthésiques; Peranaesthetic Anaphylactic Reactions Study Group), and the CICBAA (Cercle d’Investigations Cliniques et Biologiques en Allergie Alimentaire; Circle of Clinical and Laboratory Investigations in Food Allergy).
Our pathologists are members of several study groups and scientific societies, including the EAACI (European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology), the SFA (Société Française d’Allergologie; French Society of Allergology), the RNSA (Réseau National de Surveillance Aérobiologique; National Network of Aerobiological Monitoring) and the GLYAL (Groupe Lyonnais d’Allergologie; Lyon Allergy Group).
